Am I The Only One Who Loves To Be Spoiled?

Yeah, I know I haven’t respected my posting schedule AT ALL. What can I say? University assessments. And right now, internet isn't even working at my home. I have to hijack my university's library *sobs*. Anyway, I’m back!

So, last week I went on Paper Fury, Cait (the person behind the blog) had posted her review of Ensnared, the last book in the Splintered series. First, you need to know that a) I have never read any book in this series and b) Splintered , the first book in this series is on top of my TBR list.

At the beginning of her review, Cait warned several times that there was spoiler ahead. But here's the catch, I’m a terribly impatient reader. Terribly being keyword there. Also there this thing with me: I like to know how things ends. It can almost be described as an addiction. Really, be it books, movies, TV shows, I love to know how things end. Sometimes (meaning all the time), I end up on Wikipedia checking out the latest seasons of shows I’ve never watched.

Like once I went on One Tree Hill wiki page, searching for who ends up with who and who does what on the last episode, even though I could never stand that show. Don’t even bother trying to make sense of my senselessness.

You can imagine that when I came across the “hot” section of Cait’s reviews, that is the one containing the spoiler, well I delve in it like a diver jumping straight into the pool.

I can’t resist spoiler, that’s a fact. And I can’t resist being spoiled. The number of time I tried to find out how a series I’m currently reading ends is ridiculous. It’s not that I’m afraid to be disappointed, it’s just that I’m tragically impatient.

The funny thing is that even after reading spoilers, I’m still always eager to read a book. Yesterday, I finished Shadowfever, the last book in the Fever series by Kate Marie Moning. While I was reading, I already knew the big lines of the book and yet, I was so excited. You should have seen me jumping me around, gasping, fangirling and all that other stuff readers do when they're really into it.

Now I wonder, am I truly the only one like that, surely not? Is there a cure to my disposition? What do you think?

  1. I'm the same! I'm too impatient to know the end of books so I often flick to the back and try and find out what happens in the end when I have only just started. And I do that thing with TV shows too. There are some shows I like the look of but just can't be bothered to watch, so I just wikipedia them to find out what happens! Glad it's not just me!

  2. Lool, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Generally I read many reviews of the book I'm currently reading and whenever there's a spoiler section, I opened it. I do the exact same with TV shows. Thanks for commenting!

  3. I like to be spoiled, but only under certain circumstances. If, for example, I'll never read the book, or I will but I'm not terribly emotional about it, I like being spoiled. If I'm def going to read it or I'm super eager to read/watch it, I don't want to be spoiler in case it ruins this experience. And yet, if I did stumble across a spoiler, I don't get as mad as my sister would. =o

It's great to be back on your blog! I haven't visited in far too long. Looking forward to your next post. c:

  5. OH MY GOD, ahahaha... I hate being spoiled! I had been spoiled for Allegiant and my experience really sucked (coz I still wanted to read the book). Sometimes I don't even read the blurb of a book; I like diving into a story knowing as less as possible :P But good for you!!

    1. Lol, that so funny, I'm the complete opposite. I really don't want to be disappointed when I read a new book, so I try to know as much as possible about it before starting it. I don't necessarily want to be spoiled, but I like to know reviewers I trust opinions about it.
